NERVE BLOCKS

A nerve block is an injection targeted toward a certain nerve or group of nerves with the intent to treat pain. The purpose of the injection is to “turn off” a pain signal coming from a specific location in the body. The nerve block allows a damaged nerve the time needed to heal itself from a state of constant irritation or can also allow the nerve and nervous system to “reset” and not cause as much pain.

Many conditions can be treated using nerve block injections to achieve temporary pain and potentially permanent pain relief.  Areas commonly impacted include the neck, buttocks, legs and arms. Chronic headaches can also be treated with specific nerve block treatments. Carpal tunnel pain can also respond very well to nerve blocks and could potentially be a great treatment to avoid surgery.
